Teasel Gourd is one of our most familiar vegetables. This vegetable is more common in summer. Rich in protein, vitamins, calcium, minerals, and fiber, Teasel Gourd can be eaten all year round without having to buy them from the market again and again. Hard work is not much in the cultivation of Teasel Gourd. And if you are interested in rooftop farming then no problem. So feel free to cultivate Teasel Gourd in the tub of the roof of the house by following the right method. From today’s article, you will know about the complete method of cultivation of Teasel Gourd.
- Seed and soil preparation:
It is not necessary to buy Teasel Gourd seeds from the market and bury them directly in the soil. Prepare seeds and soil for good and quick yield. It is possible to grow Teasel Gourd in all soils, but clay loam soil is best for this vegetable.
Gravel seeds should be buried in medium-sized tubs or old water drums. Dry the loam soil or clay loam soil thoroughly in the sun. It is better if you mix natural fertilizers with it. Dry tea leaves, dung manure, or mustard seeds in the sun Then grind it and mix it with the soil.
And on the day before sowing, buy good quality Teasel Gourd seeds from the market. Soak the seeds in water overnight and bury the wet seeds in the ground the next morning.
- Sowing seeds:
Dig a hole 2-3 inches deep in the soil of the tub and bury the seeds. If you want to plant small seedlings of Teasel Gourd instead of seeds, the soil depth will remain the same. Provide good drainage in the tub. Then the seeds or seedlings will not be damaged by water accumulation. And try to sow seeds between mid-April and mid-June. Because by sowing seeds at this time, the yield will be faster. - Watering and fertilizer application:
After sowing, water regularly every day. But you can do another thing before watering. That is the application of chemical fertilizers. The yield of Teasel Gourd is faster with chemical fertilizers than with natural fertilizers
Fertilizer:
you want to give natural fertilizer to the plants, then add vegetable peel compost or cow dung manure to the soil occasionally. Dry the cow dung well in the sun and grind it into powder. Then apply it a little away from the base of the plant. After adding dung fertilizer to the soil, dig the soil well, otherwise the fertilizer will not mix easily with the soil.
- Plant growth and care:
After 10-12 days of regular watering, small seedlings of Teasel Gourd will grow from the seeds. Plant care starts from the time of seedling growth. Clean the weeds regularly. Also take care that water does not accumulate at the base of the seedling. Keep away from animals as much as possible. Make sure that the plant gets enough light and air.
It will take 15-20 more time for this young seedling to grow into a tree. Then tie the tree to the base of the tree with a bamboo kanchi and tie the loft on top. Within 20-25 days of canopies, the plant will be full of flowers and pebbles.
- Control of pests, fungi, and viruses
Teasel Gourds are susceptible to attacks by jab beetles, mealybugs, mealybugs, and diseases such as powdery mildew and mosaic. The leaves, flowers, fruits of the tree are destroyed, the root of the tree rots. Many times the seedlings die. The tree should be saved from these diseases very carefully.
Dead or diseased seedlings should be removed and buried somewhere away or destroyed by fire. And the part of the tree affected by the jab insect should be torn off very gently and burnt far away from the house.
Also, be sure to apply insecticides to the trees to prevent insect attacks. You can use homemade pesticides instead of chemical pesticides if you want. For this, soak 1 tablespoon of red chili powder and 4-5 large garlic cloves crushed in 250 ml water overnight. Next morning spray this mixture on the plant.
